But usually by the time we get to this point, we are in our 30s or 40s and have a family to support, a mortgage to pay, maybe a fair pension built up, and so on. All of these factors make it very hard to switch careers. It&amp;#39;s the lucky few who find or devise a way to pull it off, so I would not be too hard on the folks who decide to just tough it out.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If somebody&amp;#39;s idea of a good retirement is to sit by the pool or play golf, so be it.
