Okay, I just turned 40 and I save 10 percent of our take-home pay in emergency savings as well as about 8 pay of my before-tax income in retirement. Husband saves 15 percent in 401K. Also, we put another 2 percent of take-home pay in daughter's college fund.

I DO NOT THINK THIS IS ENOUGH! I would like to save more, and may download this book on the husband's Kindle in hopes he will come around to my way of thinking!

We live beneath our means in terms of housing and cars, but we throw so much money away on food, booze and general fun ... it's fun and all, but I would like to rein it in.

i am also acting like a much older wiser person when it comes to saving and investing. i am dong it like there is no tomorrow in the hope that there is and i will be better of than most people vis-a-vis finances and personal experiences. This i say because i hope to have the option to retire early and the freedom to do things like pick up an extreme sport or something at a time when everyone else is working their hands raw to pay off debt and poor financial decisions
