Flower Pot Cleats
A couple of summers ago I visited the Maine State Prison shop in Thomaston, ME. During that visit I picked up some flower pot cleats in the clearance bin for $0.50 each (looks like they are regularly $2.50). I put the cleats or holders up on my shed, but then never got around to blogging about them.

They are clever little pieces of wood notched to hold a flower pot. The plastic pots pictured are a bit large for the holders - I will need to dig up some pots with a narrower overlap on the top. But you get the idea. These are inexpensive and work well for small gardens or along a sunny fence line.

To see how a properly fitted pot fits in the cleat, take a look at the prison website photo.

Yes, to make them look a bit better I really should paint them to match my tool shed. One of these days I will get around to it!

Wow, I had no idea you could buy these from a prison. We bought a bunch from hangapot.com and use them on our fence. The ones we bought are plastic and I think they were more expensive than the prison's as well. We get a lot of compliments on our fence though, so it was totally worth it!
