| Living about 40 degrees parallel |
I really should not start my Sunday morning by watching a BBC News program about climate change - but I did and now it has me thinking. The video of the program is available online - US climate change security fears - and basically it is reporting that U.S. Intelligence agencies are now viewing climate change as a security threat. This has prompted them to issue a report which looks at how the US and 40 other countries will fare in 2030 based on climate impact.
The report says that in 2030, the 1st world will be above the 40 degree parallel north. Below that line water will be scarce, food production difficult, etc.
In 2030 I will be looking forward to my retirement. It appears that investing in a retirement home north of the 40 degree parallel would be wise - also looking inland.
Now, I have no idea if all of this will come to pass, but I do wonder what the climate has in store for us in the next couple of decades. I also worry what impact all of this will have on my financial future. |

The really scary thing is that most of the world's population lives below that line. Not good. Water wars?
