| Popular personal finance bloggers unmasked |
Well, we all knew it was just a matter of time before the thin veil of anonymity of bloggers was pierced. Occasionally a blogger themselves reveals their identity in exchange for publicity from a newspaper or TV show. But for the most part folks have managed to resist the siren call of fame in order to keep their personal lives separate from their blogging lives.
For personal finance bloggers this anonymity is particularly important in this age of identity theft. That is why I was shocked to learn of this website which posts the real identities of many of my favorite bloggers. Since the damage has already been done and the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, here are the shocking real identities of some of the stars of the personal finance blogging world:
My Open Wallet - The real Madame X Consumerism Commentary - The real Flexo My Money Blog - The real Jonathan Fabulous Financials - The real Single Ma StopBuyingCrap - The real Cap Mapgirlās Fiscal Challenge - The real Mapgirl Get Rich Slowly - The real J.D. Lazy Man and Money - The real Lazy Man Escape Brooklyn - The real Escape Brooklyn Hedonic Adjustment - The real Bluebird An English Major's Money - The real English Major Tired but happy - The real Tired but happy
So many more personal finance bloggers have been unmasked, but it is late and I can't list them all. Feel free to continue unmasking in the above manner in the comments! |

YOU GOT ME! LOL!
Happy April Fool's Day!
Are you sure this isn't Madame X?
And perhaps this is the real Boston Gal? *winky*

OK .. i am your first fool.....:)))))
-
OMG, you are histerical. Do more!!!
-
Ha! Nice post for April 1st ... How come you didn't include yourself there :)
-
I almost had a heart attack when I saw this! I totally expected my real name and photo to pop up on the link but thank god it was a *hilarious* joke instead! =)
-
Ha! Mapgirl. I like your picks better. I guess I should not have tried my post in the wee hours of the morning :)
I will see if I have time to add more this afternoon. But if others know the real inner pfblogger (or can find a funny take on their blog name or just something you know will infuriate them) out there, feel free to add them in the comments.
Everyone deserves to feel a bit of a fool today :)

Dammit, BG, you got me! I totally am Reese Witherspoon! How did you know?
-
I guess now I'll have to disclose all the additional income I earn from my side business... just as well, as I'd been thinking I'd better come clean about Client #9... :)
-
Yikes! Sorry about that Madame X, I thought it was just a bar/dance club I was linking to - I did not look very closely at the site!
I have switched you to MapGirl's suggestion. Your real personality has to be more in tune with a classical scandalous portrait than a bawdy burlesque bar!
Chalk it up to my puritan Boston sensabilities, who knew such dens of debachery existed, and in New York City no less!

You got me as well. I had been a little loose with my identity lately and I thought it caught up with me.
-
I have figured out the true identity of Boston Gal! ;)
-
OMG! This is too funny. I was thinking to myself, "oh shyt, did she really find me!" But then again, I like my April fool's identity MUCH better. LOL
-
this is so cute and clever!
-
Another great idea, BG. I was totally fooled. I was sure you had found a site where somebody outed me.
But, mwahahaha, you were wrong! I'm not Rip Van Winkel at all!
