Creepy Centipede Guts Mar Painted Wall
Ugh! I just killed the longest and creepiest looking centipede that I caught climbing up my bedroom all. Something about seeing that animal at eye height freaked me out and I reacted instinctively and used my shoe to kill it. Now my bedroom wall is adorned by centipede guts that I can't seem to clean off!

My bedroom walls had been painted by the previous home owner, so I don't have matching spare paint to erase the insect guts. Grrrrr....

Anyone reading this know how to clean dead insect secretion off painted walls?

I use one of those "magic eraser" (Mr. Clean?) things on my kids walls (color crayons, pens, etc) and it works great -- check in an inconspicuous area first because it CAN make the paint noticably less glossy/different sheen. Hope that helps!

EASY PEASy... mix some Oxy Clean in a spray bottle. about 1/4 cup to a pint of hot water

I use this all the time to clean marks of ceilings and walls.

spray. let dry. repeat once or twice more based on strength of mixture or stubborness of stain.

I was just going to suggest the same thing. I htought those Magin Eraser things were probably just a gimmick but got them on the recommendation of a friend and they work really well for stuff like this.

Use a cloth and dishwasher detergent. Reason: The detergent is both hydrophilic and hydrophobic (or lipophilic). In other words it likes both organic and inorganic substance. Much of the bug guts is organic, so the detergent will 'bind' to it; and when washed with water, which it also binds to, it will magically wash the organic guts away. If that does not work, try some other solutions with both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties. Good luck.

Dishwashing liquid soap should do it.

On the bright side, those are house centipedes, and though they look REALLY creepy, they are pretty benign - they eat spiders and other house pests. You can chase the things right into boxes - they run in straight lines and will run into the box and sit and wait.

Wow, you were actually able to kill one of those things? Ignoring the fact that I am terrified of them, they are fast.

Just get more centipedes and squash them to death on your wall until the whole wall is looks more uniform. If you don't have THAT many centipedes, it will look like a faux finish, but if you keep at it dilligently, eventually, it will look great.

I think the Mr. Clean magic eraser is the best bet. I've used them for spider guts...

OK, I purchased a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser this evening. But before I tried using it, I first tried the damp towel with laundry soap to see if that would get the bug gut marks off the wall. It did not really work. It removed a bit, but I still have marks.

I then went to the magic eraser. I wet just a corner and scrubbed the marked spots on the wall. A few moments of firm scrubbing removed the marks.

The wall is still a bit damp, but it looks good. No more bug guts and the wall does not appear damaged by the magic eraser.

    Thank you for your help!
