SEARS: Ordered online but picked up at the store
As I mentioned in my previous post: ReadySetHoliday.com, M80, and Viral Marketing, I ordered from the website ReadySetHoliday.com (well, Sears, really) this morning. Instead of having my items shipped, I used the "pick up at store" feature. About an hour after placing my order on the website I received an Email stating my order was ready for pick-up at the local Sears store.

At noon on a Saturday I set off to visit my local Sears store and pick up my purchase. Nothing like heading to a mall on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. It took me fifteen minutes and numerous traffic light cycles before I could even turn into the mall parking lot (the line of cars was astounding). But once in the lot I was able to drive behind the Sears store and park in a designated spot for pick-ups. I had barely stepped out of my car when I was met by a young man who asked for my pick-up slip. I handed him my Email and the credit card I had used to complete my purchase (I had to charge $1.35 for tax - over the $30.00 gift certificate). He swiped the card, handed it back to me and said he would be back in a moment. True to his word he quickly came back with the box of tray tables and the Christmas tea towels I had purchased.

I popped my trunk, he placed the items inside, and off I went. The whole process took less than five minutes. I spent more time waiting in a line of cars to exit the parking lot than I did picking up my purchases. This system is genius!
