| Sometimes it is the little things... |
Some days it seems that the smallest things can really make your day. I was recently treated to a new pair of windshield wipers. It is a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in your driving experience (and with all the rain I have been dealing with I am extremely grateful for this little gift). Another small thing that gives me great pleasure is freshly washed bedding. There is something about ending your day by crawling between the sheets of a well made and clean smelling bed that always prompts pleasant dreams.
Having a fridge full of chilled Diet Coke always puts a smile on my face (yes, I know - bad addiction). I get a similar feeling when I turn the key in my cars ignition and see the gas gauge read full. Opening my wallet and seeing money inside also gives me pleasure. It is the feeling of fullness and abundance. The wallet could just hold $1 bills, it is not necessarily the amount that matters. It is not logical, but rather an emotional response.
An empty laundry hamper and organized dresser drawers and closet hangers prompts a feeling of satisfaction and order. Sometimes the greatest luxury is a clean and clutter free house. Similar is the joy I feel at walking across my freshly mowed lawn.
What are some of the small things that give you pleasure? |

Ahhh yeaaa, the little things make a world of difference. Such as...
- hearing my daughter say "mom, you're the best!" - seeing her smile for no reason at all - looking around my [empty] new house - seeing an old couple hold hands as they walk - someone else washing my hair - a heated towel after a bubble bath
*day dreaming*

- A clean house and a clean car, all in the same day! - A fridge full of fresh fruit and veggies - A dinner table full of laughing, smiling friends - The smell of fresh air and mulchie dirt on a hike early in the morning

What a fun post!
All the things you mentioned Jane, make me feel good too. In addition,
- finishing brushing my two cats so that when they snuggle up to me, they don't get hair all over me
- dusted plantation shutters and clean windows so I can look out without seeing dirt
- freshly washed and torn lettuce in the salad crisper so I can make a big salad whenever I want
- bills paid for the month
-
- My cat crawling into my lap and purring
- Finishing a project and knowing I did my best
- Walking past a stranger on the street and having them smile and say a friendly greeting
- Eating a chocolate chip cookie still warm from the oven

Great post! If more of us think this way, we'd have few people suffering from the Jones syndrome!

Great post. Here are some of mine:
* Reading novels * Weeding my garden and watching new buds appear on my flowers * Listening to my son tell stories to himself while he plays * Seeing my son's face when I arrive at daycare to pick him up * Doing dishes while listening to music or NPR * Good thoughtful comments on my blog * Paying bills and transferring money to savings

I just had to laugh about the "fridge filled with diet coke". I feel that way too!
