| Bausch & Lomb: Renu-ing image? |
As everyone has heard by now, Bausch & Lomb has pulled the plug on it's ReNu MoistureLoc brand of contact lens solution due to those few nasty cases of cases of Fusarium keratitis, a fungal infection that damages the cornea and can lead to blindness.
Well, I noticed commercials by Bausch & Lomb last night and came across this online advert today. The company is offering a coupon for a free 12oz. bottle of ReNu Multi-Purpose contact lens solution.
Bausch & Lomb has also created a Wear & Care program. If you sign-up they will send you a kit which includes 12 contact lens cases, wear & care CD, care and cleaning mirror stickers, free trial certificate for Bausch & Lomb PureVision contact lenses, information about Bausch & Lomb eye vitamins, and coupons for Bausch & Lomb ReNu MultiPlus solution.
I signed-up for everything - however I am not sure I will use the coupons for the ReNu product. I wish they could tell me if this brand is made in a different plant than the MoistureLoc which had the fungus problem. |

About 3 months ago I got some samples from them, one was the moisture lock kind as well. They sent me an email saying please don't use it. The FDA still won't say what is causing these infections, and I doubt that they are specific to Renu only.

Yes, I tossed my ReNu MoistureLoc solution when the news first broke.
I switched to another brand which I have been using since. However, I was a Bausch & Lomb user for years and years - so I am conflicted.
