| Most Depressing Day? |
According to British researcher Dr. Cliff Arnall today is the most depressing day of the year. He created the following formula to figure out that today is the day misery peaks.
The model is: [W + (D-d)] x TQ M x NA
The equation is broken down into seven variables: (W) weather, (D) debt, (d) monthly salary, (T) time since Christmas, (Q) time since failed quit attempt, (M) low motivational levels and (NA) the need to take action.
Why would he try to figure out our lowest day of the year? Because someone paid him to do it of course. A travel company paid the good doctor to find the day when folks are most dejected so they could target when to sell holiday package tours. I guess a side-effect of winter depression is heightened suggestibility to spending wads of cash for sunny vacation destinations. So beware any sudden urges to book a Caribbean vacation today! |

I guess i'll give in to the formula, but I would have figured tax day would have been the worst!

I never would've guessed it was today. It's been a pretty nice day overall. A bit chilly. Had to get up early for work. Tons of problems to deal with at work. Noticed a gray hair in the mirror. Lost a mitten. Have a stomach ache. Sprained my finger typing this comment. Can't remember where I parked my car. Have to pay bills tonight.
But otherwise, a great day to be alive!

Are the suicide rates the highest on that too? It's still difficult to measure something such as depression.

This is so true for me! I just found this! 2 Years in a row something bad has happen to me on this day. My wife left for an older married man in 2005 and I got dump by a girlfriend one year later on the same day!!!
